Oscar Nominations 2011

Hooray for Natalie 'Black Swan' Portman for her Oscar nomination for Best Actress of 2011! I'm betting on her and I hope she wins. I watched her movie, Black Swan, just the other night and indeed she gave her best for the said movie. Mila Kunis and Barbra Hershey were good, too, however, they were both not nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category. Even the short appearance of Winona Ryder was quite noticeable... The film is also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director.

I wish Natalie the best and good luck to other nominees, too. Looking forward for Academy Awards Night and hope my bets wins ;-)

Great Old Times

I'm fond of reading articles especially back issues because I've learned a lot from the people, old places and events of the past. I am even an avid reader of other book magazines that I decided to subscribe yearly. When I happen to browse the internet, I usually check what's the latest news, then the past events to compare with the present. I am just so thankful that there is times digital archive because it helped me a lot in finding the articles that I wanted to see. They have all the events listed and even with the sought-after celebrity before, they have all the recorded documents that I sometimes feel like I was really there. They even have a detailed story about the war and what transpired during those dark moments. And if you want to see the obituary of the rich and the famous that have long been gone, you can see it from the archive. It's really nice to go back to old times because it helped me understand present. It's good to know the previous history because we can learn a lot from them, we can learn from the past mistake and we can get a very good lesson from there, too!

Danica Flores Magpantay is Supermodel 2011

Lucky, Lucky Girl! 17 year old Danica Flores Magpantay of the Philippines won the 2011 Ford Supermodel of the World title. Her prize is a whooping US$250,000 and a contract from Ford Modeling Agency.

Modeling already runs in this girl's blood as her mom used to be a model in the early 80's. She has a sister who is a model, too. When Danica decided to become a model, her family was supportive of her, even her dad. This girl is about 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs 109 lbs. She is said to be a newbie in modeling but her persistence and eager to learn personality paid all her hard work. She's looking forward to be one of Victoria's Secrets model.

First runner up of the said contest went to Miss Lithuania, who received US$150,000 and a modeling contract. And the second runner up went to Miss Poland who received US$100,000... (image source: click the pic)

Let's Dine!

I had visitors this evening and prior to that, I had been preparing things that might be used by my visitors. Since I invited them to have dinner at my place, I made sure to have my dinnerware set on a table. Funny because I seldom use our sets to think some of these were gifts from our wedding 9 years ago. It's only during occasions or birthdays or gatherings that I remember these items that were not use for a long time. I am just too glad that these gifts were durable and it was still safe and neatly kept on its box. I guess it's really best to keep items that are durable and can be used for a long time as not to have any hassles should there be a gathering or soiree held at home. Shattered

I just came from a friend's facebook account and I saw her shoutouts condemning her hubby's mistress. She even posted a picture of the girl who was 20 years older than her hubby. She's a doctor, my friend said, and rich while her husband is poor. I don't really like people who showed their dirty linens at home but I can also understand my friend. She was deranged, depressed and felt like a loser. Her only vengeance is to post the picture of the mistress and share her angst over her shattered marriage. She was losing hope but I tried to console her. I know I was not in the right position but reading her shoutouts made me understand that she needs someone to comfort her, too. She said she had been crying for days now. I wish I could be there physically for her to offer my shoulder but she's a plane away from our place. My only prayer is that her marriage will be fixed and try to renew their vows and commit themselves as parents to their kids.

Fabulous Apartment

My aunt, who is very well traveled, would sometimes share with me her experiences in another country. She's been a lot to different Asian countries, went to the US and Europe. I told her that if I only have money of my own, I hope to go and visit European countries one day to see its enchanting and magnificent beauty.

It would have been nicer to have a grand European vacation with my family, too. My aunt told me that should my plan be pushed thru, she suggested that it's better for us to stay at a holiday apartment especially when we go to London because they offered the best in town. Their amenities are superb and there's a lot of sightseeing during daytime and even at night time. They even provide assistance should we need help or a tour guide. What's great is that they are currently offering a very low price on their Apartments. Well, this is just too good to be true but it's nice to daydream sometimes. Who knows, I might get lucky and this wish of mine will come true.

Megan, Is That You?

When you say the name Megan Fox, what comes to my mind is the actress oozing with sex appeal. She was noticed for her role in Transformer 1 until she was known for being one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, even comparing her with Angelina Jolie. She was a hot chick in Transformer 2 and Jennifer's Body.

However, I've noticed a lot of changes in her. She looked different in Transformer 1 compared to T2. I fear that she's one of those celebrities who is so obsessed with surgery that even though they are already beautiful, they are not contented with the way they look. Her latest appearance was during the Golden Globe Awards and I almost did not recognize her. She looks so matured and I think she's done something to her face again. I hope this addiction of hers will be stopped or she might regret it later. She still look lovely but there is something in her that has changed. She's already beautiful and I hope she knows that by heart. She need not prove anything because she almost has everything! I guess it's really hard to be beautiful, huh?

I am not really a techie and don't know much about computer installation. I only knew the basics and if I want to know about some parts, I usually ask my husband to explain it for me and expound everything. My young daughter is even better as she understands how the computer works and its parts and its purposes. She memorized by heart the functions and the safety precautions of the computer. And all I'm good at is typing and browsing and blogging. One time, I saw my husband busied himself with the computer and he told me his making a PDF library because he's making a project for his work. He told me that it is best for creating, editing and printing acrobat PDF document and good for displaying, too. Honestly, I had a hard time understanding at first but some way, somehow, his being patient with me helped me understand a bit of what he meant. I'm A Capricorn

Going back to Zodiac signs, well, apparently, I'm not a Capricorn anymore but a Sagittarian. But I refuse to accept it. Not because I don't like it but it so happen that I grow up knowing and believing I am born a Capricornian on the year of the rabbit. Not that I am a big believer in astrology but so far, the personality of a Capricorn fits my description, although some are just coincidental.
